Tony

Tony was a guest in a shelter in southern Colorado for quite some time.  He is a very big, strong boy and it seemed that people were fearful because of his appearance.  After advocates networked him for a bit, a rescue on the western slope of Colorado graciously agreed to bring him into the safety of their organization.  Demographics can sometimes play a huge role in finding the right fit for homeless animals.  We were excited to move him to an environment with different exposure.

Now to get him across the state, which was a good nine-hour ride!  It was decided that his transport would take place with the help of two volunteers, one taking him 300 miles and the other would drive him for the remainder of his freedom ride. However first, Tony would have a little sleepover just east of Colorado Springs.

During Tony’s sleepover one of his chaperones took photos of Tony and posted them on social media, she just had to show this big boy off!  Tony’s story took a splendid turn.  A member of the volunteers’ family saw the post, immediately called the volunteer, and said, “I want to adopt that dog!”  Tony’s journey ended the following day when he took his true freedom ride to his forever home, straight to a 15 acre fenced in property at the bottom of Mount Hermon in Monument, Colorado.

Eight years later, and now named Damascus; he has truly lived his very best life.
